The highlight this month has been performing at The Ashtead Village Day event in Surrey. This was a glorified version of a village fete and I mean glorified as it really was quite an event with fun fair rides, numerous side shows, stalls etc and a large arena with a varied programme throughout the day including a motor cycle display team.
I was booked by “Wemms Maths Unlimited” a private school specialising in maths teaching. I was booked to do three 20 minute children’s shows during the day but ended up performing almost continuously throughout the day, entertaining children and adults with plate spinning, balloon models and close up magic as well as two stand up shows; it pays to have a flexible approach.
I managed to include a couple of mathematical effects, The Fantastic Figures of Foo and the Magic Square (John Archer’s version so thanks to him for that.) It was a long day but very enjoyable nonetheless.
